Chitramala - Movies - Entertainment Unlimited Krishnam Raju gave a dressing down to director April 17, 2009 at 2:49 pm Rebel star Krishnam Raju is now fighting for the Lok Sabha on the Praja Rajyam ticket from Rajamundry. He is facing the TDP nominee actor Murali Mohan and the congress nominee, the sitting MP Vundavalli Arun Kumar. Krishnam Raju came up with a new film on his Gopikrishna Movies banner after a gap of nearly 15 years. The film Billa raised a lot of expectations as a result. The star studded line up – Prabhas, Anushka, Namitha, Krishnam Raju and a item song by Hansika Motwani was seen as a recipe for a surefire winner. But director Mehar Ramesh showed more interest in props like big cars, helicopters, chases etc than on the story. As a result, the big budget film flopped. Mehar Ramesh is said to have suggested to Krishnam Raju to make a sequel to Billa in order to help distributors who lost money on the film. Krishnam Raju is reported to have given a dressing down to Mehar Ramesh. He is reported to have asked him – how can you even think of making a sequel to a flop film? Sequels are made only for successful films.

Still looking for challenging roles: Bachchan

Hyderabad (PTI): In spite of doing a wide variety of roles in his illustrious career, Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan still hopes to do roles that will challenge him as an actor.

"I don't know what is there for me in the future. But I think there are roles that will challenge me as an actor," he told reporters here, when asked whether he still dreamt of doing any particular role.

Bachchan, his son Abhishek and daughter-in-law Aishwarya, were in the city tonight to promote Ram Gopal Varma's new film 'Sarkar Raj'.

Talking about the movie, he said Varma has proved that a film can do well commercially though it did not have typical song and dance sequences.

Film critics in western countries earlier used to criticise Indian films for their song and dance numbers but now they have come to accept it, he said.

Varma said coming to the PVR cinema at Punjagutta Circle for the event was an emotional moment for him as he was born and brought up in the locality.

He said 'Sarkar Raj' proved that a film can do well at the box office without necessarily having comedy scenes and song and dance items.

He thanked the Bachchans for doing a great job in the film.

Asked to comment on Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek's performance, Aishwarya said Bachchan senior is an institution onto himself and still has the attitude of a student towards work, while Abhishek too worked with total commitment.

The cast of 'Sarkar Raj' and the director were in the city as part of the 'Idea Yatra for Sarkar Raj'.

Cricket cheers Ramu

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma is upbeat these days, and seems to be scoring with all that positive banter about Sarkar Raj . Never mind that, when we met the director over a cup of coffee, we spoke to him about cricket and the IPL.
